I always loved this bowl. It sat on a Maple stand my grandfather made. Yes, he even cut the tree to make it, cured the wood, hand turned the base and made a pie crust top for it. It sat next to his chair in their farmhouse and my Grandmother always had a Gloxinia in it. They are big, fuzzy leafed flowers that look like a jumbo african violet mixed with a snapdragon. I guess it's really the memories I like and not so much the bowl but I cannot look at it without remembering many people who aren't here any more. There are many things, people included that aren't here anymore. I guess I am getting old. I guess I should get a Gloxinia for Grandma's Bowl.
