You have heard of mom and pop I am sure. My partner and I are Pop and Pop.. . . . . . No Snap or Crackle needed.
Just the two of us plodding along, spending our lives loving and caring for each other. Doing things together. Doing things apart. It's comforting knowing that as long as he is alive, I will be too. We have spent the better part of our adult lives with each other. It would be nice to just be allowed to be who and what we are. We're pretty nice guys. We just love each other. That's all.

I always loved this bowl. It sat on a Maple stand my grandfather made. Yes, he even cut the tree to make it, cured the wood, hand turned the base and made a pie crust top for it. It sat next to his chair in their farmhouse and my Grandmother always had a Gloxinia in it. They are big, fuzzy leafed flowers that look like a jumbo african violet mixed with a snapdragon. I guess it's really the memories I like and not so much the bowl but I cannot look at it without remembering many people who aren't here any more. There are many things, people included that aren't here anymore. I guess I am getting old. I guess I should get a Gloxinia for Grandma's Bowl.
We have a room called The Bombay Room. Well, I guess now it is the Mumbai Room. What will it be next. Anyhow, we have a bunch of stuff from around the world. These tea sets were my moms and my dad and her gave them to us because they know we will never use them. We have a robe from Uzbekistan and different vases and fabrics from Morrocco. It is just a room to pass through on our way to the rooms we occupy. We seldom sit in it but it is a great room anyhow. It is in the middle of the first floor and you can only get to the upstairs through it. You have to pass through the Bombay Room to get to all the other rooms in the house.
It's amazing what you can find at Goodwill. I love Asian art and just strange looking things. my partner found this ugly old lamp base shaped like a Chinese man's head. it was all beat up so I went about repainting it the way it had been. There was enough color left to see how it was. I had to patch the base with plaster and sand it all down after I added the tip back to his nose and the sides to his hat. I also found the other lamp base, the painting behind it, the table cloth, the dish, and the two lacquered bowls. The cloisonne vase i gave to my mom and dad 20 years ago but it has returned to me after my mom died.
You spend hour after hour tending your garden. You plant seeds, weed, water, and everything else and you find out how much better nature is at gardening than you are. We have an old washer from Kevin's mom ,Miss Jessie, and it is on the side of our house. It's an old house and our first year in it so many surprises have sprung up and progressively gotten more beautiful, despite all my hard work!. I groomed and cultivated many corners of the yard but the most beautiful spot is this little corner, nearly forgotten, and nature has presented a most beautiful little vignette. A wild Hibiscus and some Ivy Berries have grown through the fence and arranged themselves in a way that I never could have. I think next year I may just sit back and let the garden grow itself. A hammock would be cool. I would love to just watch how beautiful things unfold without my help. We have loved this old house and enjoyed working on it. There are 75 years of plants that each new inhabitant have planted. They grow in and thrive right where they should. It's like having a canvas that paints itself. I just provide the frame.
