The students are back on campus and I love these little suckers. I love working with smart kids with optimism and spirit. I have some great kids and this year I have more than last.
I have been filling out forms for days and have a migraine. The paperwork is enormous and my capacity for it is not. So I enlist the help of my Assistants to keep the paper trail rolling! I'm the recruiter, they are the office personnel.
Our Nursing program is Magnet Designated and all that means is that our Nurses are in the top 3% in the country. The money we raise goes to Nursing scholarships and Medical Scholarships. My employees are not eligible for the ones they fund or they would probably raise even more, lol!
This is my Office Manager. She arrives two hours before me and then tells me what I have to do for the day and decides who gets in to see me. She is my workhorse!
This big guy just Graduated and is on his way to Manhattan to start his new career with a big shiny Business Degree.
These are my Seniors that graduated in May. They are all on their way this week to their new destinies. Jazz has been with me for three years and I will miss her. She was the Drum Major in our marching band and I saw her at all the football and basketball games. She is heading for Italy in a few months to get a culinary background to go with her business degree. Reena will be transferring to Marketing. She has been buying all our Logo merchandise for the Hospital. The money raised goes to scholarships. I make them all wear the stuff.
What are you looking at?
Reena is watching the Hospital Gift Shop. I think she may eat more than she puts out.
Every year I get an Intern to do the annual year end financial reports for the Hospital Gift Shop. He works on our Community Giving Campaign that raises over a million dollars on it's own. He works with my boss doing reports for the employee Credit Union and also with our Admin who runs the Red Cross, Summer Youth Experience, and Medical Explorer Scouts.
This is what it's all about. When you do things for people they let you know that they appreciate it. I get paid but I feel even better knowing that what we do makes a difference. People love you when you give them money, lol!
I got invited to the Chancellor's house for dinner tonight but didn't feel like it. I have had a busy week. I get to take all the old ladies from The Vanderbilt Auxiliary to a cocktail party at the Dean's house in a few weeks. They donated over a quarter of a million dollars in scholarships to our Nursing School. I am glad they are being recognized.
It was my turn to cook so I decided to use tons of herbs. I marinated thick cut pork chops in chopped sage, lemon thyme, and chopped tomatoes. A little sea salt and some cracked pepper and they were ready to fry.
I bought a huge ripe cantaloupe and decided to melon ball it. That way we could just eat without effort. If we leave a cantaloupe in the frig it usually gets tossed before we ever get to eat it.
Salad was made from really ripe tomato, hearts of celery, whole oregano, chopped basil, and Asiago cheese.
Bread was made with finely minced Rosemary and has since left the building. I topped it with pretzel salt and buttered the top while it cooked. The smell was incredible.
I spent the better portion of preparation picking, washing, and chopping herbs. My hands still smell of them.
Oh, and Kevin decided he wants a Kailash funeral. Of course getting him to Tibet may take a little doing. Then we have to get him on top of a mountain and let the vultures eat him. He asked that I make his wishes known to his family in case I pre-decease him, lol. I sure hope I do. I told him the only place we have buzzards are down by Dow Chemical near the dam. I am guessing I might have a hard time getting Dow to let me tie him to their smoke stack. Maybe not though given their history of helping humans die.
I made Pinapple sorbet and we will have that later. We watched documentaies about China most of the day.
It was Sunday so we drove past church. We took Tater for a brief cruise around town. Then we went to the Farmer's Market and a few thrift stores. Tonight we had hot wings and fresh veggies with blue cheese. Watched a little TV and are getting ready to start next week. Tater has her Doctor's Appointment tomorrow. We take her once a month for a check up and her flea and heartworm medicines. Plus a pedicure.
A pretty and lazy weekend. Good! Just the way I like them.
Overcast with a chance of late showers. Looks like dinner and a movie to me. Tater had a bath, the lawn got mowed, and the cars got washed. Put a fork in me. I'm done.
Took Tater to the Riverfront and left the memory card out of the camera like a numbskull. Could only take 20 or so pictures. This is some of them.
