Well, as you can see or have seen Val and I finally got to meet. She lives in my home town in New York. We are not in that town. We are a town away from the town we both live(d) in. That was for all the stalker's who will see this "stone fox" and want to meet her. I was lumbering aimlessly down the street and she yelled to me. She spotted the retard in the crowd and knew it had to be me,lol.
I saw this and had to take a picture of our Val's bumper sticker. The plate was removed to protect her, yet again, from internet preditors.
I bought Kevin a t-shirt and when I went to pay for it and our coffee she had already paid for it. I am always so observant. If I held out a few more minutes I could have had her pick up that tab too.
This is no amateur environmentalist. Val brings her own egg cartons in her own tote bag. She is Green! I love that about her. She also buys free range meat, organic produce, and the best damn honey and peanut butter that Mother Nature can muster. I opted for the Dark Amber Maple syrup for Kevin's mom. I also bought a canille. It is a little homemade pastry and it was eaten in the car later that day.
This is downtown Troy. Home of Uncle Sam. The movies The Time Machine and Somewhere in Time were filmed on this very street. Kevin and I almost got an apartment here. Best Antique shops in New York.
Let's hear it for Atriums for winter Farmer's Markets. It was so cold I almost died at her feet. I am too skinny and my blood is too thin for New York after 4 years in the south. There were all kinds of Artisan breads, soap, cheese, and just great things. I told Val I wanted to participate in her life so whatever she did on Saturday I would go along with her. She bought a whole free range chicken and since we were at the meat place I assumed it was a huge hunk of bacon. Retard makes another showing, lol.
Here Val has a moustache not unlike Kevin's. We both look equally bad in this but we were freezing our asses off. We held our cameras up and took pictures but mine was facing the wrong way. We had to do a re-take. I look like I'm going bald and I'm not. I slept in the car because I had such a tight deadline to get to the closing on the house. I drove all night as they say. She has a little bit of a Cindy Lou Who thing going on in the front of her hair. Our teef were clattering. She is everything we all think she is. She is so in love with her husband. She takes care of the environment with everything she does. She is also just the nicest, tiniest, cutest, easy to get along with person and we had a nice time. I am hoping Kevin and I will get to see her in July when we go back for a family reunion. I am going out of my way to not let my brother or sister find out I know her. For her protection. I hope to meet Mr. Val next time. We would love Jaypo to drive two hours to meet us. In Nashville there are lots of Voxers but not so many up north. At least that part of "North". It was a great pleasure meeting this young lady. We already get along great but I think it will be even more fun posting and responding with her having met her in person.
Dancing Bear is in New York. He arrived safely this morning. In other arrivals: I (dancing bears spouse, Kevin) got a call from my Mom this morning. My nephew Bill and his wife Lauren's new baby arrived this morning. She arrived at 09:25 a.m., she is 21" , and weighs 7.5 lbs. They named her Brielle. This is my Mom's second great grandchild and she is on the way to see her now. I shall venture out later today to see her.
(DB told me to post this for him, I hope you folks don't mind)
I will be heading to New York shortly for a quick "family business" trip. I will drive all day and night and listen to music along the way.
I will work tirelessly on behalf of my family.
I will see VAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My Vox notch belt is growing. I think I have met about 20 Voxers in person. This will be a special meeting because little Val is quite simply one of the sweetest kids in the Voxiverse. Our plan is to shop for produce. Who says life doesn't get more exciting as we get older. I may even steam Bok Choy on the engine block on my drive home.
It will be like "Survivor" Albany. I have to stay with my brother, say good-bye to my family home, and spend time with my sister's rotten kids. Or I could donate a kidney. Or sleep on broken glass. Or slam my head repeatedly in the door.
That's why I decided to see Val on my way out of town. To clear my head and make me smile for the 18 hour drive home.
Val..... a good thing!
Vanderbilt beat West Virginia tonight and go on to the Sweet Sixteen. A new banner will hang from the ceiling of Memorial Gymnasium. The men were left behind but one of our players won Player of the year for the NCAA and will probably be in high demand when the NBA draft comes along. Christina Wirth broke the 1000 point mark tonight. She is the top 3 point shooter in the SEC and is on the many coaches wish list. She just got accepted to our Nursing School also and will start next year. I happen to be on the Scholarship Fundraising end of our Nursing School so my tickets should be off the hook!!!! ( totally kidding )
Our ladies team has been sensational. We only have one senior so we will have a bangin' team next year. Our biggest competitors will both be losing 8 seniors (the entire team basically) We are losing LIz Sherwod the top scorer for the SEC and the Sixth Person Off the Bench award for two years but taken over this year by her teamate Jessica Moony. Jessica is the fire on the team. Jennifer Risper is a rebounder with a vengeance. Hanna Tuomi is our technical lady who plays by the book and still manages to get her elbow into the other girls face and block the shots of our opponents. Meredith Marsh is one of the shortest players on the team but she blasts three pointers with the best of them and moves the ball down court to the action under the basket.
For all the fun you have given us this year my hat is off to the Lady Commodores for a wonderful record breaking season and a few big games left to play. Thank you for giving Kevin and I better seats than the men did. Next year maybe a Skybox for the Lady Dores. Sweet Sixteen!!! Elite Eight and Final Four aren't too far out of reach. NCAA Champions would be just fine with me.
Looks like it is the year of the Woman. It's about fricken time.
This is Kalisa, our niece. She has been a singer/songwriter in Nashville since she was a little girl. She sang three new songs for me today and when I got home a friend had sent me an audio of a new song she wrote. I'm a lucky guy. Both ladies are outstanding. Kalisa recorded a song for the Hannah Montana movie. It wasn't for her but Hanna to sing but the writer asked her to sing the demo. It may end up in the movie. She's a good kid and we are very proud of her. Ama Duende, your song was very good. The words ring true and you did a great job. Thanks for sharing. Maybe you and Kalisa could collaborate. I think you could teach her a few tricks on the guitar. She just started learning last year but is pretty good.
This is Kalisa singing for her supper today. She's very humble and doesn't like to play for us. A performance she has no problem with but for family she sometimes feels funny. We're a tough crowd. If only I could take a decent picture.
It was many moons ago in a galaxy far, far away when a little guy with a big moustache offered to share his book with me at an AA meeting. I said "Okay, but only if you hold it". He did.
Later that evening I asked him if he wanted to see my frog. Not a code for anything. I actually had a pet frog named Spliff who was the size of a cantaloupe. "It's in the bedroom", I said. And it was. Spliff and Kevin became fast friends.
He moved in three days later and we have been together ever since. Along the way our family included many children. Dexter (my big black cat), Gladys (Kevin's 6 foot Iguana), Adam and Steve (our Cockatiels), Rosie ( our Tarantula), Kasimir ( a Gecko with a big, big heart), Gustav ( a Gecko with a big, big bite), Shelly ( a turtle), Gulliver, Tater, Millie, Lolo, and finally our demon spawn Zola Junior (named after Zola Kathryn, the horn playing Mississippian) and many fish along the way.
We have been together since we were knee high to grasshoppers. We are growing old along the way and hoping for a long and meaningful life together. There have been bumps, BUMP, and there have been the sweetest of times. One thing there has always been is love. And so, to the love of my life I say "Honey, can you get me a coke", I mean "Kevin, I love you with all my heart, small as it is, and I hope we have many years of petty bickering over TV and sports. If you leave the cap off the toothpaste I will clobber you". He has been my one true love and he will remain in my heart, home, and bed until he gets tired of me and kicks my ass out. It ain't easy being with me. I know. I have had to do it every day of my life. But it is easy being with him. He's a high spirited little fella with a love of nudity and a talent in the kitchen and the boudoir. If he could win the lottery he would be the perfect man. And so I leave you with these words of wisdom and joy:
"Hah-pee Annie-ver-sar-ee,
Happy Anniversary to yoooo.
Hah-pee Annie ver-sar-ee.
Happy Anniversary to you"! : )
I love you.
