I watched this movie Saturday morning and really enjoyed it. I love movies like this and don't mind subtitles at all. I hate dubbed movies with all the lips moving and nothing coming out stuff. The visuals were stunning and the plot very much like Crouching Tiger. In fact it starred the same actress. It was filmed so beautifully and is a true "Love Story" with an unhappy ironic ending. That's how real love stories usually end. It's a martial arts movie but an old fashioned one rather than "street fighting" type of stuff. I like the Asian Merchant Ivory type films. I find foreign films more enjoyable of late because I really am not thrilled with pop culture in America currently. Maybe I'm just old. This was well done and I would watch it again and soon. I also watched "the Wedding banquet" directed by Ang Lee. I would love for him to re-do The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck and have Chou Yun Phat play Wang Lung in the movie with real Asian people playing all the roles. When it was made Louise Ranier played Olan and Paul Muni played Wang Lung. Louise Ranier won the Best Actress Oscar for it and is still the currently oldest living Oscar winner. It is my favorite book of all time and won a Pulitzer Prize for literature.

I love Zhang Ziyi, Michelle Yeoh, and also Chou Yun Phat as well. Ang Lee makes beautiful films.
Another of my all time favorite foreign films is Roberto Benigni's Life is Beautiful. If you haven't seen it, you must!
