Regina Spektor, The Weiner Mobile, and The Vanderbilt Commodores
Tonight we finally saw Regina Spektor and it was worth the wait. She was artistically fantastic and was very happy with her Nashville audience. After cancelling and rescheduling three times I am guessing she wasn't expecting a happy group. She was mistaken. People were singing along and she would stop and let the group sing. We saw Ali there from Vox. She called me when the opening act "Only Son" was taking the stage but made it there during the break and for Regina. It was good seeing her. We may go out for her birthday in March. It was a great show. My pictures are lousy but we had a good time. Her voice sounds like a studio recording and I like for the songs to sound like the ones I listen to. Sometimes performers live don't make a great impression when you like the way the songs sound on the CD's.
Some cities have statues of famous Patriots or War heroes. Nashville has a 10 foot high Billy Graham and a big honker of a crucifix. If it weren't so cold Kevin would have sat on Billy's shoulders. Pretty effing creepy, nes pas?
Memorial Gym was the center of the Athletic Universe last night as the Vanderbilt Commodores beat Top Ranked UT for a huge victory. The biggest in Vanderbilt History. Kevin and I have gone to every game for both the men's and women's Basketball and have had a great time. The Dores beat UT by three points at the buzzer. Just two days before UT played number one Memphis and took the top spot. Tickets sold for $10,000. A record for college basketball. Ours were only $40. but I get a 75% discount. One of my students told me he couldn't work because he had Mid-terms. I said "Okay, see you at the game tonight",lol. He was there and Jazzeline, one of my other students plays in the band. I usually see the kids at the games. We had a blast and the fans went absolutely crazy. There is a good chance we will make it into the Sweet Sixteen and maybe the final four. Who knows, it could be our year to win the entire thing. We'll see. We only have one woman's game left and two men's games. Then the SEC tournament for Woman's Collegiate Basketball will be in Nashville. The opening of March Madness. The men will play in Atlanta. Last year our Ladies Team won the SEC Championship. One of the most prestigious honors in Collegiate Athletics.
GO DORES!!!!!!!!!!

I bet there are some folks in West Virginia who might disagree on the birthplace of bluegrass. :-)
This is our third Vox get together Ali. We may have to have a barbecue this summer and have some of the others over. Maybe we can do that other show for your birthday if I'm not in new York. I still can't believe how teenie Regina was. What a great artist though.
I would love to see you guys anytime. Keep me posted. She was a little tiny elf of a thing, wasn't she? She was the craziest little pumpkin have seen in a long time and I was so glad I went. I just love duende when I see it, and it is rare.
