Chester the Molester behind bars.... finally!
Fugitive Accused of Raping Child Caught

w LAS VEGAS (AP) — A fugitive accused of raping a 3-year-old girl on videotape was arrested quietly during a traffic stop, telling the officer, "I'm tired of running," police said.
Chester "Chet" Arthur Stiles, 37, was pulled over late Monday in Henderson for not having a license plate. He admitted his identity after police said his license looked suspicious.
"He said, 'I'm Chester Stiles, the guy you're looking for,'" Henderson police Officer Mike Dye said. "He said, 'I'm tired of running.'"
Las Vegas police Capt. Vincent Cannito said Stiles has been wanted since Oct. 5 on warrants issued for 21 felony charges in connection with the acts seen on the videotape. The charges include lewdness with a minor, sexual assault and attempted sexual assault.
The videotape, found in the rural Nevada town of Pahrump last month, had prompted an equally intense search for the young girl who appeared in it. Police with little to go on had encouraged news organizations to broadcast the haunting image of the 3-year-old. When the now-7-year-old was found on Sept. 28, authorities shifted their resources to finding Stiles.
Dye said he stopped Stiles at about 7 p. m. on a busy thoroughfare just outside Las Vegas driving a white sedan with no license plates.
Stiles, who had been portrayed by authorities as a dangerous, knife-wielding survivalist, provided an expired California drivers license with a photo that Dye said looked "suspicious."
"The picture on the license didn't quite match the gentleman in the vehicle," Dye said.
After further questioning, the officer said Stiles revealed his true name. Dye said Stiles cooperated and didn't resist. Dye called for backup and another officer arrived to handcuff Stiles.
Stiles was booked at the Clark County jail. He had not yet hired a lawyer or been assigned a court date, police said.
Stiles was already wanted on state and federal warrants in a case alleging he groped a 6-year-old girl in 2003. Police had received hundreds of tips on Stiles, who they believed might be dangerous and possibly armed based on earlier arrests.
Stiles' previous arrests included charges of assault, battery, resisting a police officer, auto theft, leaving the scene of an accident and contempt of court, authorities said.
He was convicted in 1999 in Las Vegas of carrying a concealed weapon, and in 2001 of conspiracy to commit grand larceny. Police were also looking into an allegation that he had sexually assaulted a young girl in 2001.
Nye County District Attorney Bob Beckett had said he was told Stiles was a "survivalist type" who always carried knife and had a Navy SEAL background.
Totally awful guy and ironically there really is a Chester the Molester. Lock him up and throw away the key!

Just lop them off.
It's disgusting that this type of thing goes on in the world. I hate when I hear about "rehabilitation" for these predators. There's no way to fix this type of mentality- some folks are wired bad. But what do you do with them?
Put 'em in general pop and let the gangsta's take care of it. That's what.
STUPID: A child rapist videotapes his crime against a 3-year-old girl.
STUPIDER: "Losing" that tape.
STUPIDEST: Prime suspect in child rape driving a car without license plates, carrying somebody else's driver's license, in the same town where his crime was committed ... and not shaving his trademark Thin-Man mustache.
If Chester Arthur Stiles proves to be little Madison's rapist -- and his homemade videotape will be his most damning witness -- may prison life prove to be a life lesson for Chet about what it feels like to be powerless and exploited.
I won't waste any more of your bandwidth. I blogged about this case more fully at Under The News
And I agree, his testicles must go.
I used to transcribe reports at a police department in a small city and one thing that really shocked me is that child molestation happens a lot more often than people think. This case should be a good one because of the videotape, but more often than not the victim is too young and frightened to testify against their attacker.
Whether the article said it or not, I'd bet this guy "fell down" a few times on his way to being booked. I have heard that even castration doesn't stop sex offenders because the bad wiring is in their heads (the one at the top). Even with their balls gone, they still find ways to victimize. Still, I'd be all for castration if it would slow them down.
I don't know what the answer to this is other than to keep your children close and talk to them about stranger danger and "bad touches" from acquaintances. Tougher sentences would be a step in the right direction, but it's so hard to convict these scumbags. It's a little reassuring to know that this one is off the streets and can't hurt anyone else (at least for now). He even looks like a pervert to me.
A man like this cannot be rehabilitated and should never be let out of confinement.
It does sound like an easy fix to lop off the parts we most associate with rape/sex, but I really believe that what sits on the shoulder is more accountable than what is between the legs. So, instead of lopping off heads or boy parts, I suggest an induced coma or snapping the spine so that everything from the chin on down is paralyzed...
Yeah, I really don't know the answer either...
I'm not sure I see more victimization as a rehab and I really don't like the idea of rape being an acceptable way to punish someone. And I feel this way for all criminals, from the person who wrote bad checks to the murderer. For one thing, I am not sure if it really teaches anyone a proper lesson. Sure the unwillingly sodomized get to know a thing or two about feeling powerless, and they may very well become another HIV/AIDS/HEP C statistic, but what does it do for the person doin' the screwin'? That "booty bandit" might get parole some day, as criminals sometimes do, and what was his lesson in all of this? I just can't find delight or justification.
My comment about the "booty bandit" was a bit harsh but no more harsh than your comment about breaking his spine so he would be paralyzed. There is no easy answer on what to do with these people who commit these crimes against children. If it isn't a mental illness does that mean they are inherently evil? If they see no wrong in what they are doing, does that make them insane and curable?
I am very passionate about this issue because I am a survivor. I know what it is like to feel shame, powerlessness, fear, etc. because of the experience I survived when I was young. When I hear a story like this it angers me because I know what the long lasting struggles are for that little three year old girl. She is going to have a difficult time working through all of this. Chester could be out of prison before she gets to the other side of it; if she doesn't kill herself first. These guys do far more damage than the physical rape and generally they are released from incarceration before the victim has even begun to survive.
I agree raping the rapist is not the answer but we as a society have to either put these guys in prison for life or put them in a mental facility for counseling and observation so we can maybe find out "why" they do what they do.
