I love the new strengthening US dollar! In the last several months, I've gotten a raise because of it, making a couple hundred bucks more a month. Not a big raise, OK, but it's better than losing money!

I hope it keeps going up...

Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones, D-Ohio, is reported to have suffered an aneurysm and is not expected to recover, according to CBS affiliate WOIO in Cleveland.

WOIO also reported that the congresswoman is on life support at this time.

The station reported today that she was transported overnight to Huron Hospital in Cleveland after police found her in her car last evening.

The congresswoman's office said in statement that she suffered the aneurysm while driving her car in Cleveland Heights, Ohio last night and that she "has stabilized and she is receiving the best care available."

The congresswoman's office would not confirm that she is on life support.

Tubbs Jones was first elected in 1998, becoming the first black woman to represent Ohio in Congress. She represents Ohio's 11th district.

She was set to be a superdelegate at next week's Democratic National Convention in Denver.

Tubbs Jones was one of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's biggest boosters during the primaries, then threw her support to Sen. Barack Obama in June.

That one fish up in front using the spot on his tail to form the eye is pretty cool, but the subtler, more impressive detail is that the shark-shaped school has its own group of pilot fish tagging along.

I See Movies

The Machine Girl

If you like ultra violent blood spray movies than this one is for you. It is a revenge movie that lives up to the Tokyo Shock title. The main character's brother and his friend are killed by a gang that is led by the son of a Yakuza boss. Oh the boss, his wife, and son are all Ninja as well. The movie just gets more and more bloody from there. This movie is not for the weak of heart or stomach.

Forever the Moment- This is a Korean movie. A Korean sports movie. A Korean sports movie about Olympic handball. A Korean sports movie about women's Olympic handball. Now that you don't want to see it let me tell you how good it is. It is based on the true story of the 2004 women's Olympic handball team. The team was put together with some veterans that some considered to be over the hill and some unproved rookies. The coaching situation was uncertain until the late into training and even then the he and the players clashed at first. Like all sports movies, this one is a feel good title. I won't tell you how they did in the Olympics, but the movie does have footage of the real matches along with soundbites from several of the real players and the coach. Great movie.

Saint Ralph

Another sports movie and yes another feel good movie. This movie was just awesome. How did I miss this movie for so long. How did this one slip under the radar of everyone I know except for Mainmor who watched it accidently. The first 20 or so minutes of this movie are uncomfortable as this 14 y/o boy is exploring puberty. A lot of the time with his hands. The story is about Ralph, whos father is dead and his mother has just slipped into a coma and looks as though she is battling cancer. He goes to catholic school and is kind of an outcast. He is told that it will take a miracle for his mother to ever wake up. He relates this to the XC coach saying that it would be a miracle if anyone off of his team could win boston. Ralph is encouraged by a vision of God telling him to win the race. It was a great movie with some great child acting.

Man vs. Gadget

Its that time of year and its to soon if you ask me. There is nothing worse in my view then shucking corn and silking it. I dont mind the picking, thats the easy part even if it is past 90 degrees outside but when you have to sit around for hours on end getting those little stringy silks off the ears its tedious, boring and an all around pain in the a**. I dont care what all the ads say either those little corn silking brushes are no better then a 1$ drinking glass cleaning brush as the dollar store.

My mother bought me this neat looking little gadget that cuts corn off the cob, i couldnt wait to use it, i was already tasting the fried corn which normally i dont make because i hate manually cutting corn off the cob so i pull out the little wooden ~~torture~~ device thinking man this is going to be so easy. The first slide.... corn flies everywhere, hmm, guess i need to rethink its use. I reposition the little gadget then slide the corn down it again, OUCH! OK i know its suppose to cut corn but i dont think im suppose to lose a finger in the process. I go find a bandaid and mend my finger then try it again and once again corn flies everywhere, maybe im doing something wrong, i holler at my husband in the living room to come and help. He takes one look at the mess ive already made and gets that im the man attitude and gives me that look that says... this is simple, i dont know why you cant do it. I smile in return hoping but not hoping that the little torture device brings him to his knees.

His first slide, corn flies everywhere and im feeling better already looking at the corn spattered on his reading glasses. He then complains about the bowl size i use so i hand him a larger one. His second slide, corn flies everywhere, his hand slips off the cob but at least the little device didnt bite him and the lovely word f*** comes out of his mouth. I give him the watch your language look while hearing my girls in the living snickering over him cussing. He tries the next cob, corn flies everywhere, my kitchen at one end is now one heck of a mess. My husband tosses the gadget into the corn bowl and just almost stomps out of the kitchen muttering under his breath something about the damn thing not being made right, im wondering if he needs to dust his knees off. I toss the device in the garbage and remind myself to order this little corn cutting gadget before next years corn season as im trying to clean the spattered corn off the wall and off my cabinets and thinking at the same time, I guess we'll be eating a lot of corn on the cob this winter.
